Our homes can be beautiful,
whilst also being warm, healthy, affordable to run, and function within our planetary boundaries.

At Hapticity, we understand that the impact and inequalities of the climate and biodiversity crises are the biggest challenges facing the world today.  We are committed to taking responsibility for the role we can play in limiting global warming and using our influence to create change.

The built environment accounts for 38% of CO2 emissions, with 18% of the UK’s annual emissions coming from the operational energy use in our homes. As architects, designers, developers, and homeowners, we have the power to make a big impact. We take this responsibility seriously and we want to take our clients on this journey with us.

Our commitments

Firstly, as a business, we have committed to reduce our own emissions as quickly as possible and reach Net-Zero by 2030.  We have made this commitment as part of the SME Climate Hub (part of the global Race to Zero Campaign) and we will report yearly on our carbon emissions.

This involves not only reducing the emissions we directly control, but also:

  • working with our suppliers and contractors to encourage them to do the same,

  • ensuring the services we provide enable our clients to reduce their emissions (see our second commitment), and

  • collaborating with others to share knowledge and accelerate wider climate action.

Secondly, we have committed to the RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge.  This sets out challenging but necessary and achievable targets for operational energy, embodied carbon and water use for our projects. Meeting these targets would put us on the right trajectory to achieving the necessary net zero targets for UK housing stock by 2050. We are also working to the LETI Climate Emergency Retrofit Guide Targets for retrofit projects.

This is a journey we want to take with you, our current and future clients. It is only achievable together. We are excited by the challenge and the opportunity, and hope you are too. If you would like more information on the RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge, and what it would mean for your project, please do contact us.
